About Us

History

Weir Veterinary Services began in 1952 when Glenn and Kelly Weir moved back to Kelly's home town to start their career in veterinary medicine.  Needless to say there has been a lot of 'water under the bridge' since then.  Since the inception of the business, it's growth and success have been predicated on providing service along with compassion for animals, big and small.

The early years saw mostly farm animals, but I certainly recall many pets and special companion animals arriving at our door.  Dad would have the owner and pet feeling better by the time they went home.  As Lloydminster has grown and changed so have we at Weir Veterinary Service.  Our focus has expanded to include preventative and emergency medicine, and surgery for a multitude of species.  We have grown to eight veterinarians in two locations with each of us able to help in our areas of special interest.  Our staff of animal health technologists and receptionists are compassionate, caring individuals that help make each and every visit to our clinic as stress free as possible.

We are very proud of our long standing service to the people of Lloydminster and the surrounding communities and we plan to continue providing what we believe is exceptional service for many years to come.

We have expanded!

Have you heard the news?  Weir Veterinary Services has expanded the companion animal side of the practice to serve you better.  The new addition includes a bigger and better surgery suite, a treatment and recovery area, two new exam rooms, and more space for pet food, among other things!

The pictures below will give you a virtual tour of the expansion.

The new laboratory area, where our staff can provide in house diagnostics for your pet.

Treatment and recovery room.  This area is used to anesthetize patients for surgery, before moving to our sterile surgery suite.  We also use it to treat patients staying with us in the clinic, and monitor pets waking up from anesthetic.

Surgical Suite, where spays, neuters, and orthopedic surgeries are preformed.

One of two new exam rooms.

Expanded pet food and treat area.
